I used to live in Pensacola, Florida. After I closed my shop and left Alaska, I traveled around the United States to find the perfect place. I was going to move to Columbus, Ohio, but ended up in P'town since it's was so magical there and it's right by the ocean. My house was only a stone's throw away (literally) from the railroad tracks and was located near downtown.
I have a few projects that I'm constantly involved in:
travel/tours: I tend to travel a lot. I've tried to
stop, but something always comes up and I'm off on another trip.
So far, I haven't left the continent yet, but I'm saving and
looking for ways to get outta' here. I think a trip to backpack
across Europe is a good start, but I don't want to stop there.
I'm also looking foreward to doing some tours once I get a band
togeher. None of my other bands ever traveled out of state.
I once went on tour with my friend's band (This Bike is a Pipe
Bomb) as a roadie. That means I got to help load equipment, then
when the show began, I sat and sold stuff. We went all the way up to New York. I finally got to see the famous CBGB's. I even used the men's room down in the basement. I was going to try out the
women's room, but some rock star was already in there! Just to set the record
straight, I think CBGBs sucks! The tour was fun though. We went
to all kinds of clubs, some with stages, some without. Sometimes it would be a house show. After each performance, it would be time to head
to the next location, ocassionally taking along an extra passenger. When we got to Nashville, Rymodee got sick, but I still had fun in the wheelchair at the club. At Nacho-Mama's in Augusta, GA, they
have one of the coolest pinball machines I've seen.
music: About half of the live performances I've done were in a noise band called "Fsunjibleableje". I did most of the electronics for our shows. That means, keyboards, samplers, drum machines, and effects. The other half of the live shows I've played were in a punk band called "Liquid Bandade". I played bass guitar and sang. Currently I'm still making music, but as of late I've been concentrating on minimalist live electronic music. I never seem to be able to get all of my equipment in one place, then when I do, I don't have enough cables to hook it all up. Either way, I have managed to make a few recordings. my stuff includes a Roland Juno 106, Juno 60, a Moog Rogue, and a slew of other keyboards, saplers, and some FX.
writing: I have two different zines I currently publish. The older of the two is called "PTBH!". It's been about a lot of stuff, but has turned into a bit of a travel-zine and comes out only 2 or 3 times a year. The newer one is called "For Crying Out Loud" which comes out as often as once a month and is about more personal aspects of my life and my beliefs.Sometimes I do them on the computer, sometimes I do them the old fashioned way. Regardless of how I write the thing, I end up going to Kinkos. I take some friends and we all go make zines!
computers: There are times that I spend way too much of my days on this infernal machine. Mostly it's working on my site, 23Skidoo.org, but sometimes I get online to download MP3 files or check out what other creative individuals are doing. I've found some amazing bands on the net, and I hope to somehow add to that list with my own site.
sluggo's a nice place. . If anyone is interested in playing a show on a stage in Pensacola, they should. There isn't so much of a 'meat market' there, even though attractive females and girls with cool hair do show up, but that's why i like it (had to mention that so I could link the pictures). Of course, on weekends all kinds of people show up. Sometimes it might be a father & son reunion, or a scary tattoed red-neck! If nothing else, you can just go play pinball with Rymodee and me. I'm very happy to announce that lots of people that go to Sluggo's ride bikes.
friends: I have some of the most amazing friends living right here in this town. Hell, right here in my neighborhood! It's an amazing coincidence, but I live next door to the people that are the reason for me moving here. Other friends live only a couple streets away, and almost everyone goes to Sluggo's which is just a 5 minute bike ride. We all like to get together and make things happen. Sometimes it's bar-b-que, a group bike ride, or a protest. We have fun no matter what it is. I also have friends that live in New Orleans, but that's only 3 hours away, so we're able to get together once in a while and make some noise or go exploring the underground tunnels in our cities. My New Orleans friends travel a lot too, so I don't always get to see them, but once in a while I'll go there and hang out, maybe try and make money with a hat (I can't find the picture of the hat after I decorated it). Usually, I'm with my good friend, Jynx. You know what sucks about having friends who are always on-the-go? Keeping up with them! My favorite person in the whole world is a girl named Aprel. But I swear, I see her maybe once a year and it's driving me mad! Yeah, I sure do miss her, even more than that transvestite I met in Hollywood. LosAngeles is a crazy town. Some of those world-famous gangsters have guns! But luckily, my friend Mr. Craig was there to protect me. San Diego isn't as bad. That's where Philth lives.
my dog: Ya gotta love my dog, Toby. I got him when he was already 2 years old from the newspaper in Anchorage. He's been with me through thick and thin, and waited patiently for me whenever I left on a trip. I love him to death and he's the main reason I'm not out calavanting around the country-side right now. He's a big black lab/shepard/nufi mix and he's full of love. I wonder if he misses the neighbor's dog, Grendel as much as I do. They used to hang out together a lot.
dumpster-diving: There are so many great dumpsters in this town! Some are full of food, some have useful devices (like my typewriter), and some are fun to play in! We go on bike trips late at night and come home with backpacks stuffed all the time. If I'm really lucky, a donut truck will crash right in front of my house, scattering sugar-glazed treats all over the place.
